In order to do that, the Chiefs must upgrade their offensive line and they can do that by using the No. 1 pick in this year’s draft to get a stalwart left tackle. On CFU’s big board of the top 75 players in this year’s draft, four of the top 10 players are offensive linemen. Texas A&M’s Luke Joeckel, Central Michigan’s Eric Fisher and Oklahoma’s Lane Johnson all should hear their name called early in the draft.
Alabama guard Chance Warmack is another player who could go in the top 10, or even top five. Guards rarely get selected that high, but Warmack is a rare talent and could be an exception. Another guard who did not quite make the cut in the top 10, but is rising up boards is North Carolina’s Jonathan Cooper. He figures to be the second guard off the board, but some mock drafts even have Cooper as the first guard selected.
