To begin 2013, the MAC has a hoard of teams ranked in the middle of the CFU Preseason Top 126 including No. 15 Northern Illinois. There are six MAC teams ranked in the top 68 of the CFU Preseason Rankings and all have potential for great seasons in 2013.
Northern Illinois and Kent State are projected to meet up once again in the MAC Championship, but Bowling Green also has a good shot at winning the East and do not count out Toledo in the West.
Near the end of the season, Northern Illinois plays at Toledo. The Rockets have a 5-1 record in the Glass Bowl against top 25 teams with the Cincinnati Bearcats in 2012 as the latest victim. Bowling Green could also be a sleeper in 2013 if the Falcons offense improves.
With new coaches for both the Huskies and Golden Flashes, it would not be a surprise to see different teams in the MAC Championship, but NIU brings does back the best player in the conference, QB Jordan Lynch, and KSU has the best playmaker in the MAC, WR/RB Dri Archer.
Overall, the MAC is projected to have six bowl eligible teams this season.
