Last Saturday on ESPN College GameDay, ESPN analyst David Pollack seemed to be bothered by Rice reportedly being on the new committee. I actually believe that she is one of the better choices for the panel, but the system itself is flawed without checks and balances.
Pollack's reasoning that everyone must play football to understand it is just silly. That would mean everyone that is handicapped or simply not good enough to play can't comprehend how to judge and rank teams.
This is what Pollack said during the conversation Saturday morning on the ESPN College GameDay set:
Pollack said, "Now I’m going to stick my foot in my mouth probably. I want people on this committee guys that can watch tape."
"That played football," responded Paul Finebaum.
"Yes that have played football that are around football that can tell you different teams on tape, not on paper," agreed Pollack.
Chris Fowler, "So no woman belongs on the committee?"
Pollack, "You said that"
