There are so many stories about LSU vs. Alabama that I decided to delve into what a couple former prominent college football players from the state of Alabama and Louisiana think about the upcoming showdown. Of course I am speaking of Alabaman Forrest Gump and Louisianan Bobby Boucher.
Former Alabama All-American Forrest Gump was possibly the most prolific kick returner that the Crimson Tide has ever had. He may not have had a high football I.Q., but he sure could run. The late Alabama Coach Bear Bryant once said, “He must be the stupidest son of a bitch alive, but he sure is fast!”
As many know, the rivalry between the Tide and Bayou Bengals is a bitter one especially since Coach Nick Saban of Alabama was once the coach of the LSU Tigers. We know what many LSU fans think of Saban so I wanted to find out what an Alabama native thinks of LSU Coach Les Miles.
When I asked Gump what he thought of Miles, he gave a short reply, “Stupid is as stupid does.” I pressed further to what he meant, but he just said, “And that's all I have to say about that.”
Gump was then asked about the upcoming showdown between LSU and Alabama. His reply was simple yet meaningful, “My mama always said life was like a box of chocolates. You never know what you're gonna get.”
Bobby Boucher, the former tenacious linebacker for the South Central Louisiana State University Mud Dogs, was one of the most feared pass rushers ever to come out of the Bayou. Amazingly, Boucher was a walk on for the Mud Dogs and was initially their water boy. He was known as a wild reckless player. Some of his former teammates recollected his on the field antics:
“Remember the time Bobby tackled the referee by mistake...How 'bout the time Bobby tackled the guy from Louisville, and threw him into the stands… Y'all remember the time he intercepted the ball and his pants fell off, and he ran for the touchdown bare ass?”
Some Louisianans like to refer to Nick Saban as Nick “Satan”so I asked Boucher what he thought of him. He seemed to share the same feelings as many LSU fans by exclaiming, “My mama says Nick Saban is the Devil!”
I also asked Boucher what he thought was the key for the Bayou Bengals to win against the Tide. He answered, “All they need is some wata (water).” I then asked if he knew anything about the water that the LSU tigers have on their sideline this season since they are playing very well. He confidently said, “Now that's what I call high quality H2O.”
After the answers and statements from these college football legends, I’m still not sure who will win, but I am hyped to find out. Everyone is waiting to watch the big showdown on November 5. So which side are you on Alabama or LSU? Forrest Gump or Bobby Boucher?
